Education: Washington State University
Dr. Kinney grew up in Phoenix, where at the age of four informed her mother, after visiting her own doctor, that she would be the first doctor for animals. It was all success from that point forward. She attended the University of Arizona, where she received her Bachelor of Science Degree and then traveled to Washington state where she earned her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Washington State University. She then stayed there an additional year for an internship in anesthesiology.
Always attracted to beautiful outdoor places and the smaller, more rural areas of our state, it was an easy decision for her to come to Sedona. She has been at OCSAC for fifteen years and is now owner of the practice. Dr. Kinney has a deep rooted love for animals and nature and an aptitude for science. She enjoys staying current in veterinary medicine as a member of the Arizona Academy for Veterinary Practice and by attending numerous continuing education conferences and reading various professional journals. This last year, Dr. Kinney spent approximately half of her 50 hours of formal continuing education studying dentistry and learning some new techniques to improve oral health in our pets, and this area has become of special concern and interest for her. She takes great pleasure in helping owners find solutions for their pets’ health issues and in enhancing comfort and quality of life…Puppy kisses aren’t bad, either!!
Active in the community, Dr. Kinney is a supporter and Board of Trustee Member for the Humane Society of Sedona. Her hobbies include swimming, yoga, softball, good food and doing anything fun outside with her husband Marc, kids and pets. Additionally, Dr. Kinney, and/or the clinic, has been voted best veterinarian in Sedona for several consecutive years. Her warmth, competence and reassuring attitude are her trademarks!
